Home Sweet Home

We lived in this house for 11 years and it served us well, at only 1350 square feet, but we had all we needed.  Though I have always wanted a dining room and an office, I figured maybe one day.

I have never complained or been ungrateful, at least we had a roof over our head.

In March of this year we decided to just start looking around to see what houses on the market were going for.  It’s hard to not fall in love with a house when you start looking but I told myself everyday, what’s meant to be will be, it’s all in Gods hands.  We decided to stay close, looking in the subdivision next to ours.  It had so much more to offer amenities wise and we didn’t want to change ours kids schools, we love their current school.

We followed all the tips and advice to declutter and depersonalize our home, then with the help of family we repainted to neutral colors.  House was now ready to put on the market.  Unfortunately one of the homes I fell in love with changed from sale to pending sale.  Even though I was disappointed I knew in my heart that it wasn’t meant to be our home.  So the search continued…

Our home was only listed for two days before we had offers, what a blessing.  We accepted one of the offers and everything started happening pretty fast after that, but it didn’t feel fast.  I was so anxious to get out and start looking at homes for us.  Another home I had saved changed from sale to pending, again I had to think it wasn’t the home for us.  So we branched out after searching which subdivisions would stay with our kids schools and began making our list of homes to see.

I can’t even remember how it all happened but a few weeks later I received a notification from HAR that one of the homes I saved was put back on the market.  I took that as a sign 💕 We had our list for our realtor of homes we wanted to see.  It was the second appointment for that day, we instantly fell in love and I just knew in my heart this was the one.  The process began 🤗 EXCITED feeling to say the least!

So much work left to do but we happily did it, we wanted our homebuyers to be happy, well, because karma.  We received the same treatment from the owners of the home we were purchasing.  Everything was working out, like it was meant to be.

As some of you may know, I have been a designer with Origami Owl for 5 years and it was our 5th year anniversary convention planned for July 12-15.  I had my convention tickets, plane tickets and hotel reserved and I couldn’t wait to go.  I’m not getting off topic, there is a reason for me to mention this!  Guess when our closing date was scheduled for?  Ahh, if you guessed July 14th you would be correct!  So thankful and blessed to have a loving and understanding husband, though it wasn’t always easy we figured it all out.  Happy to report while I was away at the O2 Experience, hubby took care of everything and some of my family came to help start the move until I returned, which was only two days later.  It all worked out.

Feeling incredibly blessed, I have my dining room and office now 💕 plus a little more ☺️

Now the fun part of unpacking is happening.  Boxes, and more boxes everywhere, lol.

What color should I paint our new dining room?

I plan to add wainscoting and reupholster our chairs to a shade of gray.  Painted was left from previous owner, it’s not going to stay there.  Also they left us the most beautiful pewter chandelier in the attic, the current one in the dining room is gold and I had planned to spray paint it, so what a wonderful surprise it was to find one in the attic!  Spam me with your ideas….

I have tons saved on Pinterest
