Off to Hogwarts we go

Harry Potter… calling Harry Potter!

I don’t know many people who haven’t read the books or watched the movies. As a family we love the series and the movies. We were so excited to go to Universal two years ago to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Have you been?

Butter beer is a must. It was sweeter than I liked but you have to have it at least once right!

Kids enjoyed picking out a wand. This was like a huge souvenir purchase but they really didn’t get much else except maybe a T-shirt lol!

She begged but I had to draw the line, at least she got a pic in one, not like she would have ever worn it again 😂

Had to get chocolate frogs, well just had to!

Of course the Hogwarts express train was perfect to get from one side of park to the other.

Great memories!

Be prepared for long lines but it was a fun trip!!!

I’m so excited that Origami Owl is partnering with Warner Brothers for a Harry Potter collection!!! I squealed when I heard the news!

We won’t have more details for at least another month. I have many guesses as to what charms we will carry. What would you like to see? If you want to be one of the first to catch a glimpse be sure to join my community 😉

Want an opportunity to win the new Spring collection(Harry Potter not included)? I have the details in my community for all my VIPS

Eeeek! This beloved book series is turning 20 YEARS OLD this year and Origami Owl is celebrating by introducing a new Harry Potter for Origami Owl collection coming this spring! Can you believe that?! Where are my Harry Potter fans??

Wellness Wednesday

Wednesday words of wisdom #wordtothewilling…

Did you know not getting enough sleep at night could result in ruining your skin?  Adults need at least 8 hours of sleep each night, you can read more about that here.  Sometimes it can be so hard to get, I usually get 6-7 hours most nights.  I can remember when my kids were little it was much less.

I try my best to get to bed by at least 10:00 pm each night, even though I am exhausted most nights I find it hard to wind down and shut my brain off, lol, maybe that is a mom thing!  What are some things you do at night to help you relax and snooze away?

As tired as I may be I am getting better at being consistent at washing my face every night before bed.  Shameless plug here, with my Willing Beauty  HY+5 regimen it couldn’t get any easier and I love the way my face feels when I wake up in the morning.  Three simple steps morning and night.  I love simplicity!

Why is sleep so vital?

During the hours you are asleep, your body’s hydration rebalances and there is a rise in growth hormone as it repairs itself. That allows the skin to recover moisture and for damaged cells to be renewed.
“Sleep is a time for the body to heal, renew and eliminate toxins from the skin,” explains Dr Guy Meadows, founder of The Sleep School.

Now you know its really true when you hear get your beauty rest.

Work in progress

It's a small nook next to my bedroom, it was a burgundy color so I wanted to change that. I found a neat looking piece at Hobby Lobby so I went with that in mind. I picked a blue gray color to paint it after two coats of Kiltz. I can't wait until it's finished, but I still need something to put on the ledge inside, not sure what I want there yet….
Like I said, work in progress 😉

In an instant

Have you jumped on the Instant Pot bandwagon yet?

I recently purchased my first Instant Pot about a week ago, I couldn't wait to try it out. I must admit it's a little intimidating though lol. So far I have only cooked rice and soft boiled eggs(which were amazing) but I would love to try more.
What are your favorite recipes? Any tips or tricks you can share for a newbie?

Home Sweet Home

We lived in this house for 11 years and it served us well, at only 1350 square feet, but we had all we needed.  Though I have always wanted a dining room and an office, I figured maybe one day.

I have never complained or been ungrateful, at least we had a roof over our head.

In March of this year we decided to just start looking around to see what houses on the market were going for.  It’s hard to not fall in love with a house when you start looking but I told myself everyday, what’s meant to be will be, it’s all in Gods hands.  We decided to stay close, looking in the subdivision next to ours.  It had so much more to offer amenities wise and we didn’t want to change ours kids schools, we love their current school.

We followed all the tips and advice to declutter and depersonalize our home, then with the help of family we repainted to neutral colors.  House was now ready to put on the market.  Unfortunately one of the homes I fell in love with changed from sale to pending sale.  Even though I was disappointed I knew in my heart that it wasn’t meant to be our home.  So the search continued…

Our home was only listed for two days before we had offers, what a blessing.  We accepted one of the offers and everything started happening pretty fast after that, but it didn’t feel fast.  I was so anxious to get out and start looking at homes for us.  Another home I had saved changed from sale to pending, again I had to think it wasn’t the home for us.  So we branched out after searching which subdivisions would stay with our kids schools and began making our list of homes to see.

I can’t even remember how it all happened but a few weeks later I received a notification from HAR that one of the homes I saved was put back on the market.  I took that as a sign 💕 We had our list for our realtor of homes we wanted to see.  It was the second appointment for that day, we instantly fell in love and I just knew in my heart this was the one.  The process began 🤗 EXCITED feeling to say the least!

So much work left to do but we happily did it, we wanted our homebuyers to be happy, well, because karma.  We received the same treatment from the owners of the home we were purchasing.  Everything was working out, like it was meant to be.

As some of you may know, I have been a designer with Origami Owl for 5 years and it was our 5th year anniversary convention planned for July 12-15.  I had my convention tickets, plane tickets and hotel reserved and I couldn’t wait to go.  I’m not getting off topic, there is a reason for me to mention this!  Guess when our closing date was scheduled for?  Ahh, if you guessed July 14th you would be correct!  So thankful and blessed to have a loving and understanding husband, though it wasn’t always easy we figured it all out.  Happy to report while I was away at the O2 Experience, hubby took care of everything and some of my family came to help start the move until I returned, which was only two days later.  It all worked out.

Feeling incredibly blessed, I have my dining room and office now 💕 plus a little more ☺️

Now the fun part of unpacking is happening.  Boxes, and more boxes everywhere, lol.

What color should I paint our new dining room?

I plan to add wainscoting and reupholster our chairs to a shade of gray.  Painted was left from previous owner, it’s not going to stay there.  Also they left us the most beautiful pewter chandelier in the attic, the current one in the dining room is gold and I had planned to spray paint it, so what a wonderful surprise it was to find one in the attic!  Spam me with your ideas….

I have tons saved on Pinterest

Tough losses

It’s always hard when our kids experience a tough loss in a competition.  We do our best to stay positive and console their defeat.  When really, sometimes I just want to cry along with them!  Instead we hold it in, and stay strong, not much else we can do right?  Yesterday was our first time competing in this activity.  I thought the team did amazing and we are so proud of all of them for their efforts.  It was a fun experience, I am still surprised by the results they were given, but it’s just one of those things in life.  You can’t be bitter, you can only learn from it and try to do better next year.  Middle school is tough enough, Monday announcements will be exciting for most, but hard for some to sit through.  I told her last night, it is okay to be sad, cry tonight and get it all out.  Tomorrow it will be time to move her focus onto something new.  We will be cheering on all our friends as they continue on to state, so proud of all the kids and the hard work they put through.

There is no such thing as failure, only learning experiences. ~ author unknown
